Teen Justice Workshops

This was a collaboration with The Bubbler at Madison Public Library. I appreciate your support!

Over the past few months, I’ve been teaching art to the teens at the detention center and a shelter in Madison, WI. The first class included a short meditation followed by an introduction to mantras to use in every day life, a word to give them strength or peace. I explained that even if they think meditation is dumb today, they may remember it as a tool to use in the future when they need it most. Then, we drew our mantras in whatever letters we felt they would look like. Even some of the staff joined in!

Another workshop looked at examples of geometric shapes and we made patterns with acrylic and paint markers. I love seeing unknown talent shine, while others just explored and had fun.

Looking forward to more workshops this summer!
