150 Artists Exhibition
In celebration of the Madison Public Library’s 150th anniversary, The Bubbler put together this fun exhibition where 150 local artists were invited to create a piece of art inspired by a word, chosen from a selection of several from a specific year. My year was 1890 and the word I chose was “Tondo” - meaning; a circular piece of art, particularly a painting or sculpture, popularized in 15th century Italy. These pieces often feature themes associated with perfection, unity and domestic decoration. This felt like the hand of the universe, given I often create a circular calligraffiti design within my work. This specific piece, painted on a skateboard I stained and prepared for this project, represents the gift of a peaceful lifestyle; bringing the honor of our experience as an awareness to the present and sitting with the respect of each other in that unification of our physical and conscious being.
Influences: Ancient Greece, Aegean Sea, Turkish Accents, Medieval Scroll, Peaceful Lifestyle
